Experimentation - with photoshop 

For this image i used the pen tool to create the lines around the person then added a glow effect onto that. the background was just the brush tool with different brushes. Then it was just up to the position of layers to get it all to look right. ( I forgot to do a screen grab of the original image, then couldn't find it online ).

 on this image i have used the brush tool to give her some eye shadow, and the burn and dodge tool on the eyes. Then some colour variations and other lighting tools like contrast and highlights. I've also changed her eye colour from the original image, to do this I used the quick selection tool to select her eye, then I went into image, adjustments, then into Hue and Saturation and played around with that to change the colour.

on this image i have used the liquify tool to drag her face around. Then the brush tool with a really low opacity  and a green colour to change her skin to more a green'y colour.

on this image i used a picture from space and a picture from a park then placed the space picture over the top of the park picture and used the eraser with a low opacity to blend them together. The monster coming out of the water was done by selecting the the original image with the quick selection tool and dragging it over to this image. After this was all done I flattened the image and applied a filter over the top to make he lighting look the same over everything.

again with this image i extended the sky in the volcano with the free transform tool, then placed the planet over the top of the volcano then used the eraser tool with a low opacity to blend them together. 

this is a flag we made in photoshop. to do this we used various shapes using the shape tool ( just rectangles at first) then used block colours to fill them in, after that we applied different shapes e.g. stars. after that we applied a texture from the internet which was fabric to give the ripple effect over the flag and then played with the opacity of that layer so we don't see the fabric show through on the flag.

this is a shape outline i made with the shape tool, then i selected the text tool then clicked on the edge of the shape and it allowed me to then write around the outside of the shape.

here i used the text tool and then highlighted all the words. then i used the little box on the side, to then move letters up and down, change the spacing and the angle of words.

Here i used the shape tool to make this shape, this time i clicked on the text tool then clicked inside the shape and it then allowed me to write things into it while keeping the words in the shape.

 on this i selected the text tool and created the words. Then pressed control and clicked on the layer the writing was on and it selected it for me. Then clicked on the warp text tool so that i could bend all the the writing around. Once that was done, still selected make a new layer and hide the original. Then i got the brush tool and found a colour and painted the test. with this image i used a low opacity so i could get the faded look.
